ORIGIN OF STRETCH MARKS

The dermal layer of skin contains two forms of collagen, Collagen I and Collagen III. Seventy percent of adult dermis is Collagen I. This subtype provides tensile strength and cushioning to the skin. The remaining collagen in the dermis is Collagen III. Collagen III is more elastic than Collagen I.

Rapid stretching of the skin distorts the collagen matrix and dermal architecture. Consequently, the collagen fibers deposited in the dermal matrix under these harsh conditions become irregular collagen bundles, rather than the regularly ordered, cross-linked collagen fibers seen in unstressed skin. Because irregular collagen bundles cannot form cross-links with other collagen fibers, this new dermis lacks the tensile strength of normal skin. The absence of cross-linked collagen, and the growing predominance of irregular collagen bundles in the dermis of stressed skin, forms stretch marks.


SCIENCE BEHIND Stretch Mark Remover™

Collagen synthesis is naturally balanced against collagen degradation. For the body to repair the irregular collagen structure of a stretch mark, the rate of new collagen synthesis must first be suppressed so that the malformed collagen structure of the stretch mark can be degraded.

Stretch Mark Remover shifts the equilibrium between collagen synthesis and degradation in favor of degradation. It achieves this effect by suppressing the rate of new collagen synthesis. This allows for ongoing collagen degradation in an environment of regulated collagen synthesis and deposition. Control over this process favors the deposit of cross-linked collagen fibers in contrast to the formation of irregular collagen bundles.


Stretch Mark Remover IN THE LABORATORY

Laboratory investigation at SUNY Brooklyn’s Department of Dermatology confirmed Stretch Mark Remover’s ability to suppress collagen synthesis. Dermatologists focused on the collagen precursor ‘PIP’ during their evaluation of Stretch Mark Remover because the rate of new collagen formation is directly tied to the presence of PIP. Clinical studies have demonstrated that Stretch Mark Remover significantly decreases the production of PIP and thus the rate of new collagen formation.

For the treatment of existing stretch marks, four to six weeks of daily, liberal use of Stretch Mark Remover is required before an improvement in stretch marks is usually fully evidenced. Who should not use Stretch Mark Remover?
Pregnant women in their first and second trimesters, and individuals with a known sensitivity to eucalyptus oil, should not use Stretch Mark Remover. People with open sores or a history of heightened skin sensitivity should also not use Stretch Mark Remover.

Will Stretch Mark Remover work for me?
Each person will experience a different amount of improvement in the appearance of his or her stretch marks. Some people will not observe any changes, although the majority of users will see significant improvement. It is impossible to predict who will respond to Stretch Mark Remover. Differences between stretch marks and skin types will require that some stretch marks be treated longer than others. New stretch marks are likely to respond faster to Stretch Mark Remover than old stretch marks.

May Stretch Mark Remover be used to prevent the development of stretch marks, including during pregnancy?
Yes. The application of Stretch Mark Remover during periods of rapid weight gain associated with weight lifting or overeating may minimize the development of stretch marks in predisposed areas. Women in their third trimester of pregnancy may also use Stretch Mark Remover to help prevent the development of stretch marks. In some people, Stretch Mark Remover may totally prevent the development of stretch marks.

How soon can I expect results from using Stretch Mark Remover?
When used as directed, some people will appreciate visible results within two to four weeks. Others will require up to eight weeks of daily application to fully appreciate an improvement. The majority of Stretch Mark Remover users will appreciate some improvement during this initial eight-week application interval. All improvements are cumulative over time. In rare circumstances, some people have reported initial visible improvements after six months of application as directed.

If Stretch Mark Remover is working, what will the skin look like?
At first, the darkness or redness of the stretch mark will begin to fade and the stretch mark will begin to blend in with the surrounding skin. With continued use, the crinkly, stressed appearance of the skin will begin to resolve and the stretch mark will fade into the surrounding skin.

How long do I have to use Stretch Mark Remover?
For the majority of people, it is recommended that you use Stretch Mark Remover as directed for an initial eight-week cycle to determine if there will be any visible improvements in the appearance of stretch marks. If there is a suggestion of improvement, continued use of the product for an additional one or two eight-week cycle is recommended. If you believe that you are a slow responder, it is recommended that you apply the product as directed for the initial eight-week cycle and observe carefully. You may even want someone to photograph your stretch marks. If you do not appreciate any visible improvement after the initial eight-week cycle, it is recommended to choose a small area of skin to treat continuously for an additional one or two eight-week cycles, at which time you may make another determination, and proceed accordingly.

What happens if I completely stop using Stretch Mark Remover? Will the changes in the skin’s appearance stay the same?
The majority of improvements in your skin’s appearance should remain the same after discontinuing your use of Stretch Mark Remover. However, rapid weight gain secondary to pregnancy, weight lifting, or other conditions that stress the skin will stimulate the redevelopment of stretch marks.

When should I use Stretch Mark Remover?
Massage Stretch Mark Remover into the skin two to four hours before bed on a nightly basis. This will allow the eucalyptus oil scent to fade.

Will any other type of eucalyptus oil produce the same effect on stretch marks as the type found in Stretch Mark Remover?
No. Although there are numerous types of eucalyptus oil, only the very rare type found in Stretch Mark Remover has been shown to influence collagen synthesis and degradation in the manner necessary to diminish the appearance of stretch marks.

What if I miss a scheduled application or forget to use Stretch Mark Remover?
If you miss or forget an application, simply resume your regular nightly application at your earliest convenience.

Can I use Stretch Mark Remover more than once daily? Will it work faster, better?
You should only use the product once daily. More frequent application will not accelerate improvements in the skin’s appearance.
